Bargain Hunters - How US prices compare to UK
For the dedicated bargain hunters among us, a flight to New York is the only way to make the most of the current bargains.
The dollar is in freefall, which could spell disaster for the US economy but in the meantime has created the perfect environment for massive savings at the shops across The Pond.
With the dollar heading towards two to the pound, almost everything on sale in America is at least one third cheaper than it is in Britain, with many items approaching half price. And even though New York city sales tax of 8.6 per cent will be added to price tags at the till, if you choose wisely your total bill will still be lower than shopping at home.
First, transatlantic bargain hunters must split his or her wish lists into basic groups, to identify the biggest savings and to save time getting around town.
Bargain Hunting – Turn A Game into an Investment.
I don’t mind shopping but it certainly is not one of my preferred ways of spending my leisure time. What I do like is finding a real bargain.
No matter whether it is for my business or for my home, I am a bargain hunter through and through. The way I see things is that no matter what you buy, it is the price you pay that determines whether it is worth buying or not.
The bargain hunter in me will let me buy a house that I do not necessarily like, if the price is right. Why? Because if the price is right, then I will make a profit from day one when I sell it. In the same way, the bargain hunter in me will allow me to buy a car that I am not in love with, because if the price is right, I can immediately sell it at a profit.
Sometime the Bargain Hunting I do drives my wife crazy, but she has no real reason to complain because virtually everything I buy is simply determined by whether the price is right or not. I try and make every purchase an investment. And for that reason my wife is never short of money.
I’ve even turned her into a bit of a bargain hunter. If she sees something on sale now, she’ll try and buy it for even less – generally around half price. She’s not always successful, but when she is, she will buy 3 or 4 for that price. Then she’ll turn around and sell the others off on an online auction. She usually doubles or trebles her money!
How many of you would like to have everything you buy, paid for by someone else?
Now that’s a real bargain hunter at work. And you if you try really hard with your bargain hunting, you can turn your hobby into an investment. |
